Yanahli Park, Fall 2024

This fall, I had the pleasure of capturing the vibrant scenery of Yanahli Park, Maury County’s largest and most diverse natural area. Yanahli Park offers a breathtaking mix of ecosystems spread over 474 acres, with a mosaic of forest types, rich woodlands, and fields that change dramatically with the seasons. Each visit to Yanahli Park reveals something new—from the glow of fall foliage to the quiet beauty of the Duck River, one of the world’s most biologically rich rivers.

The photos capture the essence of a serene autumn day at Yanahli Park. Golden and red leaves carpet the ground, while the trees seem to glow under the soft sunlight filtering through. The winding path invites you to walk further, soaking in the vibrant colors of nature.

Yanahli, meaning “to flow through” in Chickasaw, has a deep history. The park's land is culturally significant, with historic settlements, ancient rock walls, and burial sites—remnants of a time when the Chickasaw and other tribes navigated the Duck River. This river, with its rare, threatened, and endangered fish and mussels, plays a crucial role in the area’s ecology, adding even more layers to Yanahli’s natural and cultural significance.

Photography allows me to document these moments and share Yanahli’s beauty with others. This fall, I was inspired by the park’s peaceful atmosphere, vibrant foliage, and the connection to history that seems to echo throughout the trails.

Whether you’re a nature lover, a history buff, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, Yanahli Park has something to offer.
